The World Country Dance Federation was founded
in Europe with one goal: to enhance „Country Dance“ on all levels
(Social-, Competition- and professional level) by using a big variety of dance-
and musical styles. A lot of the “big names” in Country and Western
dancing are members or supporting the WCDF. The founding members of the WCDF
look back on years of experience as dance instructors or owners of dance schools.
Most of them are also very experienced Event-Directors, jugdes and competitors.
Not only international, but also a social competition will be offered. By encouraging
this, the WCDF emphasizes one of their goals: to show social dancers that they
are as important as the competitors of International championships. The WCDF
has created „dancer friendly“ rules, which are available in the
national languages. They are kept simple but significant. A comprehensive training
programme for judges will ensure a fair judging of the dancers. Within the WCDF
the dancers will be represented by the WCDF-Representative of their country.
The WCDF is an organization with one principal duty: to serve the dancers and
the country dance worldwide. The main motto is: „The dancer comes first“.
